Communities come together to support under 11s trying out basketball

Thanks to Magic Little Grants, administered by Local Giving on behalf of the People’s Postcode Lottery, a grant of £500 was received to purchase special units for children.

The units, which hang off 10ft hoops to give 8ft high hoops, allowed under 11s to play basketball. Sessions were run throughout the summer holidays which attracted several youngsters ready to try out their skills. These were held at Archbishop Illsley Catholic School when our regular venue was unavailable due to COVID restrictions, and Light Hall School as part of the Free School Meals morning camps in August through Solihull Council’s Stronger Communities Team.

After some blocks and shots off the backboard, the children enjoyed the sessions and were grateful of getting back to some normality of being able to participate in sporting activities.
